Expanding Our Connections: PACC-Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce

On Thursday, July 11th, several volunteers representing KPC Buddhist Relief attended the monthly Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) meeting at Locals Farm Market.

Buddhist Relief had previous correspondence with Tom Kettler, President of the PACC about becoming a member of the PACC in order to connect with a larger base of people. About 50 people attended this lovely breakfast meeting.

The goal of the gathering was to provide an opportunity to network with organizations in Poolesville and neighboring areas in the upcounty area. The meeting is designed to make connections and learn about each other in order to be of benefit to the wider community.

The monthly presentation was given by Heidi Rosvold-Brenholtz, newly appointed first female president of the Monocacy Lions, who spoke about the Lions Club, its history and how they support others providing scholarships and specifically aiding in vision care locally, nationally and internationally.

Buddhist Relief volunteers introduced themselves to Heidi thanking her for her invitation to come present at the Lion’s Club last fall. Heidi was very enthusiastic about finding and creating ways to partner with Buddhist Relief.

Buddhist Relief volunteers also met members representing some of our other partner organizations. The members were very interested in learning about the KPC temple (a Tibetan Buddhist center also founded by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo Rinpoche), what Buddhist Relief is doing, and how they can participate. We are excited to continue to foster these important and beautiful relationships in our community so we can all be successful in our efforts to alleviate suffering in our communities.
