Pooling our resources, strengthening community
On a recent Thursday afternoon, Upcounty Hub staffers Chris and Craig warmly welcomed the KPC Buddhist Relief van & volunteers that had arrived with literally half a ton of fresh food.
We brought 100 lbs each of ten different fruits and vegetables in season. With Buddhist Relief volunteer Rudy, they worked joyfully and efficiently, transferring all the cartons of produce from the van into the big blue bins.
Piled high with food, the blue bins were then weighed to record the amount donated by Buddhist Relief: it was 1,048 lbs, to be exact.
Chris and Craig quickly delegated the task of sorting the produce into individual boxes to the Hub volunteers. These boxes would be distributed to 150 families in need in Montgomery Village the next day.
And then, the duo set off in the Hub truck filled with food boxes for their weekly Thursday afternoon distribution!
It's an honor to partner with committed Hub staff and volunteers; it's also an honor to partner with our committed donors like you to make this possible! By pooling our resources, we can strengthen the community.
We invite you to partner with us!
