KPC provides life, nourishment and love...

On a recent delivery to Shepherd's Table, our 810 lbs of fresh produce not only included store-bought carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, and apples... but also freshly-picked fruits and veggies: 50 lbs of yellow peaches from Kingsbury Orchard, 40 lbs of white peaches and 30 lbs of tomatoes from Jetsunma’s garden, plus 4 lbs of chard and kale from KPC’s Giving Garden. We also offered 25 lbs of organic ground beef as well as hamburger buns, ketchup, coffee, creamer, sugar, olives, and salad dressing.

The Shepherd’s Table crew all came out to unload the van and they were amazed at how they had to keep emptying bins in the kitchen so they could bring the bins back out to take another load from the van. Chef Tee and the other chefs said they love Mondays when we make our deliveries because they have so much to work with.

At one point Charlene, a staff member (formerly a guest), picked up one of the white peaches and just smelled it, it was so sweet. She’d never had a fresh peach before. She asked if she could eat it and we told her to wait another day until was ripe, to make sure it was soft, not hard, in her hand. She was very excited!

So often we take fresh food for granted, and then through the eyes of another we are given the gift of seeing a piece of fruit or a vegetable for the first time and experiencing how that nutrition is our lifeline. It is so simple… No food, no life... KPC Buddhist Relief provides life, nourishment and love with every delivery.
