Friday Nov. 17th delivery to First Baptist Church of Silver Spring

On Friday, after our delivery to Wumco Help, much of the same team then traveled to Silver Spring to make a delivery to the First Baptist Church's Food Closet.

The Food Closet can only distribute non-perishables, and the delivery included some holiday foods as well as proteins, condiments, and some treats. They delivered one case each of canned ham, canned mackerel, and canned beef; one dozen 1-pound bags each of dried kidney beans, garbanzo beans, and black eyed peas; one case each of cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, scalloped potatoes or potatoes au gratin, bagged nuts in shells, and canned gravy; one case each of mayo, ketchup, salsa, mustard, whole italian tomatoes, tomato paste, Jif peanut butter, evaporated milk, cereals, and old fashioned oatmeal; and one case each of vanilla pudding snack packs, chocolate pudding snack packs, granola bars, and chocolate chip cookies (Chips Ahoy).

Jim from First Baptist took the time to tell us about how their organization works. We found out that they were inspired by Shepherd's Table 30 years ago to begin collecting and distributing food!

May all beings have food to eat.

Help us help them!
