360 families
This past week, your generous contributions provided for 360 families in need in the Upcounty area, in the form of fresh produce and non-perishables. Thank you!
Through our ongoing partnership with The Upcounty Hub, KPC Buddhist Relief continues to improve the offering of essential, healthy and culturally appropriate foods. Last week, we delivered 1,224 lbs of fresh produce to the Hub and, for the first time, we offered yuca besides other nutritious fruits and vegetables. It was highly appreciated by the recipients. On Friday, 170 families benefited from these offerings, via drive-through (and walk over) distributions. (It is not unusual to see 30 to 40 vehicles lining up to receive the food distributions, half an hour before the distribution begins).
Also last week, the Hub's Choice Pantry allowed for 190 families to come personally to each choose 30 lbs' worth of various quality food staples, condiments, juices and treats. Each family gets to select foods they like or will use. KPC Buddhist Relief plays a key role in stocking the pantry shelves. Last week, we topped off the shelves with 380 lbs of additional food staples (like mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, cooking oil, peanut butter, jam preserves, cashew nuts and pistachios, plus cans of beef stew, chicken breast, ham and tuna).
Help us help them!
